My mom is willing to buy a car for me, with a reasonable price range. But my dad does not want to pay for car insurance. My parents are divorced, and I do most of the communication between them, especially when it comes down to needing money. I have brought up the aspect of working part-time. But my parents tell me that I should focus on school. My dad tells me I should focus on school instead of a car, but I need that car so I can get to where I need to be. My dad works from 9am-7pm, so I have no way of getting to 5pm practice or getting to school at 6am unless I rely on my dad. I understand how much stress my dad goes through supporting 4 children, two of which are about to go to college... It hurts when I have to ask him for money, even to pay for SATs and AP tests... Although essential, they still cost a lot of money, and money is tight now. With $65 per college app and college apps coming up in November, I'm going to be applying to nearly 10 schools, so over half a thousand dollars thrown away as my dad states it when I asked him to pay for my second SAT. My dad will pay for my academic needs, but he won't be happy about it. It feel as though my academic potential is being held back by how much money we have. I feel bad when I succeed now, basically. So I try my best to save money, like I gave examples of above. But now, I am only 1 step away from getting being independent, transportation-wise. I was driving a rental for 9 days and was informed that I'd be reimbursed by the other persons insurance. What they're saying now is that I'll be reimbursed for the amount for the vehicle, but not the young drivers fee I had to pay to acquire the vehicle. I feel as this is unjust because I had to rent a vehicle because of someone else's negligence, and I have no control over the fees charged to young drivers. I was driving on the M4.. I had 2 cars in front of me .. I was in the last car in the row ( third car ) .. the car in the front ( First car ) has braked suddenly .. The car in the middle ( second car ) hit it causing it much damage .. I could not stop at the right time and i hit the middle car afterwards .. Now .. The man in the middle car has lied to his insurance company and said that he stopped at the right time but when i hit him i made his car jump to the front and hit the front car .. I have now 2 insurance companies chasing me for money and treat me as a hunt because i had no third party property damage at the time of the accident .. My understanding was that the greenslip covers these things but actually they dont .. I have received bills from both companies.. 7000 AUD for the front car and 2000 for the middle car .. The details of repairs in the middle car ( that i hit on a very low speed) shows that damage at the rear of the car cost only 427 AUD and i offered them to pay it .. They refused and threatened me to go to court.. The police did not come at the place of the accident .. What do you think i should do?! How strong will be my situation at the court ?!

Hi, Myself and a friend will be travelling to California next month to purchase a 1960s vw campervan. We will be driving it to the shipping port to export it back to the uk. I've been told we can get a temporary registration which lasts 28 days and will allow us to drive the van. I've been on the californian DMV website but cannot find any more information or the forms. no email address either! So far I just know we will need to have an insurance certificate to get the temporary registration. Couple of questions really, Do I need to purchase a van before I can get the temporary registration? Ideally I would like to go buy a van and drive it away there and then from the seller but Im thinking I'll have to put a deposit down or similar and get the info and go to the DMV before I can take it away? so i'm 20, & i've had my licence for a year now & been driving around in my dads cars. but he just recently got a letter from his car insurance asking if he will add me on to it!.. will it be cheaper if i was added on to his or if i had one of my own?? because i go to school full time & work part time! & would the insurance go down when i turn 21?

Why is my car insurance higher than my sisters?

Okay I am kind of frustrated so I am hoping someone can explain this to me. My sister and I both have our car insurance through progressive. We both have 2003 Chevy Cavilers (4 doors). Neither of us have been in an accident, we live only a few miles apart. The only differences I can think of: Her car is red, my car is blue, and I am 23 and she is 25. Other than that we have the exact same policy, everything! Last month she paid 140 for her 6 months. This month they want me to pay 191!!! I don't understand!! I am a former cop and from what she told me, the other vehicle is at fault because he came into her lane and hit our car, but there was no police report. I already called my insurance company and gave the normal information. My question is... will my car be covered because she is not on my insurance? I have been reading and people say the car is covered, not the driver so it should be, but I also read someone who said if someone lives with you and you did not tell the insurance company they could have possession of your car, that they may not cover it.
